An AG doll named Julie

On the American Girl Shop at Home website, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Trademarks. A list will pop up of all the trademarks, including a list of all the doll names. "Julie" is the only name on the entire list that is new. So exciting! The US Patent website lists dozens of names but this is the first time I've noticed a new name on the AG website.

I already have an AGT23 named Julie Amelie but I'll simply have to buy the AG doll named Julie! [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] Since there are no other new doll names listed, I wonder if that's the name of the next limited edition doll.

I hope so! He he. We need to get on this and crack the case! This is my idea of the doll.

I believe that she will be a very special limited edition since she will also be historical. I think they may use Jess' face mold (possibly) with fair skin and all over the face freckles and big wavy brown hair like in the eighties. The wig could be like #26 but looser. This could be our eighties doll. To support my case, I looked up Julie in the popular list of baby names of 1976 (so she would thus be 10 years old by 1986) nd it was around number 22 then and has risen in number since then.

Anyone else agree or have a totally different idea? I wonder what her accessories would be like...

Remember the crimping irons and crimped hair of the 80's? All my daughter's friends had irons and wore their hair crimped.

Denim skirts and vests were big with lots of embellishment, such as rivets, rhinestones, lace and patches.

Victoria magazine debuted in the 80's and it was a first of its kind. Everything got "victorianized," thus the mauves and ivory lace on everything from sneakers to jackets to Christmas ornaments.

We were speculating on another post about what the next LE doll would be. I said I thought it would be a doll named Julie from the 80's in honor of the company's 20th anniversary. Should be interesting if it really comes true.

I was 16 in 1986 so the fashion/trends I remember are stirrup pants, big baggy v-neck sweaters, brown loafer shoes with the laces coiled, layering socks & BIG hair. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.......now I want to go drag my yearbooks out and see how ridiculous we looked!

I do remember wearing some lace scarf thing too Julia, so you're right about that trend!

Agh, it's so creepy to see one's own name trademarked. I had it first!!!

I don't have any speculations about the doll, except I hope it doesn't look anything like me. Otherwise, my mom will probably buy it for me for Christmas, whether I want her or not. [img]redface.gif[/img]

Actually, that is a typo on their website. Julie is not a registered trademark of American Girl.

As of today, their application for "Julie" is still pending.

This does not mean she could not be coming out soon, however. Emily, for example, is still a pending trademark, as is Elizabeth.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Do you know for sure that she will be an historical? It sounds like you know something, but I may be reading your statement wrong.

Personally, I would think if they were going to release an 80s doll in honor of the 20th Ann. of AG, she would have been this year's LE, not next, as this year, 2006, is the Anniversary year.

I'm a huge 80s fan, and have said dozens of times that an 80s doll would be so fun. The 80s style was back in late last year and early this, and some portions of it still are now (leggings, for instance). I just don't get why they wouldn't take advantage of that.

I don't really like the idea of an LE historical. I like to think that the dolls with historical significance, and more educational stories will be around forever. The point of the current, modern LE dolls is to represent a doll of NOW, when NOW is changing every year, and to show that from year to year, styles, interests, etc, changes, but little girls will always be little girls. Having an historical doll only be around for a year seems pointless, and they'd probably be really fast with production, so only one book (which is like blasphemy for the historical girls who aren't friends), and probably very little historical context, just enough to say she's an 80s doll, to give her 80s outfits that would sell well.

Have to wait and see, I guess. I would love an 80s dolls, I'd just prefer one that's an actual historical, and not LE.
